Care and Maintenance
CARPET
Carpeting is subject to more abuse than any other home furnishing. Download Carpet Care and Maintenance for a detailed guide on how to maintain your carpet.
Quick carpet care tips:
- Vacuum at least once a week using a top quality vacuum cleaner
- Act quickly when anything is dropped or spilled on the carpet — the longer the spill or staining material remains on the carpet, the more difficult it may be to remove (even carpet with a stain resistant treatment is not stain proof)
- Never scrub spills or stains — always blot
- Deep clean your carpet at least once every 12 to 18 months using a certified professional cleaner
WOOD
Wood flooring is stylish and relatively easy to maintain. Some care must be taken to avoid damaging or marking the floor. Download Wood Care and Maintenance for a detailed guide on how to maintain your wood floor.
Quick wood care tips:
- Vacuum regularly
- Use a Bousada recommended wood floor cleaner - never use wax, household detergent, or oil-based soap on a wood floor
- Wipe up spilled water, liquids, or detergents before they are absorbed by the wood fibers
- Maintain relative humidity between 35% and 50% and a temperature of approximately 20° Celsius (68°F) in your home
- Glue felt pads to the legs of furniture and chairs to avoid scratching flooring when objects are moved
